Wine Regions: Amalfi Coast and Campania

It is easy for one to become mesmerised by the magical region of Campania and its attractions, from the region’s great capital city of Naples to the incredible ancient Greek and Roman ruins or the picturesque coves and mighty cliffs of the Costiera Amalfitana.

The region of Campania was known to the ancient Greeks as ‘Campania Felix’ translated to ‘Fertile Countryside’ and for good reason, the land was perfect for creating fantastic wines. Two standout grapes are the Greco di Tufo and Fiano, both of which produce world-class white wines that pair perfectly with the local cuisine.

The cuisine of Campania has as much history as its age-old vineyards. The sorts of fayre you find in Campania depends on what part of the region you’re in; Casertan and Aversan dishes tend to focus mainly on cheese and vegetable dishes whilst Neapolitan dishes are more focused on seafood.

Naples is the regional capital of Campania; filled with beautiful architecture, ancient castles and fortresses and gastronomic delights. Naples is recognised as the original home of the pizza, so don’t miss out trying a classic Neapolitan pizza and washing it down with sweet and zesty Limoncello, another local favourite.

Amalfi is the shining gem on the Campanian coast, here you can explore the charming town and admire its infinite breathtaking views. Relax and enjoy a glass of local wine whilst taking in one of Amalfi’s striking coastal sunsets.
